Two Containers Seized in Smuggling Attempt at Umm Qasr North Port

Baghdad: Two containers prepared for smuggling were seized at the Umm Qasr North Port crossing. The Directorate of the Umm Qasr North Port seized two 40-foot containers.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Directorate stated in a press release: "At the search and inspection point outside the customs area, the importer declared that the containers held only 'construction materials.' However, upon inspection, it was discovered that they contained 'new bicycle spare parts,' which are prohibited from import."

The statement added: "A formal seizure report was prepared for the two containers and their contents, and they were referred to the Umm Qasr North Customs Police Station for legal action against the violators."
