Gaza City: Two Palestinian journalists were killed in Israeli shelling in the Gaza Strip, increasing the death toll of journalists in the region to 208. Journalist Hussam Shabat, a contributor to Al Jazeera Mubasher, died today when Israeli forces targeted his car in Jabalia, located in the northern part of Gaza.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Government Media Office in Gaza announced Shabat’s death, highlighting that the war on the Strip has resulted in 208 journalist fatalities. The office strongly condemned the targeting and killing of journalists by the Israeli occupation and called upon international journalistic organizations, including the International Federation of Journalists and the Federation of Arab Journalists, to denounce these systematic attacks on Palestinian media personnel.

Shabat’s death occurred shortly after he reported on Facebook the death of journalist Mohammed Mansour, a correspondent for Palestine Today. Mansour was killed in a similar shelling that targeted his apar
tment in Khan Yunis, in the southern part of Gaza. In the past 48 hours, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have resulted in 61 deaths and 134 injuries, as per a statement from the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip.

The Ministry of Health also reported that many victims remain trapped under rubble, with rescue efforts hindered by a lack of fuel and the immobilization of civil defense equipment. Since October 7, 2023, the overall number of deaths has reached 50,082, with 113,408 individuals wounded.
