Nyon: The Champions League draw, which determines the group stage fixtures for Europe’s leading football clubs, is set to take place next month in Switzerland. UEFA has announced that the event will occur on August 27th at their headquarters in Nyon, marking the 16th consecutive season of the competition.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the draw will see 36 teams divided into four groups of nine based on their prior performances in both European and domestic contests. Each team will participate in eight matches during the 2026/27 group stage, evenly split between home and away fixtures.

Following the group stage, the top eight teams will proceed directly to the round of 16. Meanwhile, teams finishing in positions nine through 24 will compete in a play-off round. The ensuing knockout stages will be played over two legs, leading to the final match, which is scheduled to be held at Atl©tico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, Spain.
