UNAMI Announces Signing of Documents for Handing Over its Baghdad Compound to the Iraqi Government


Baghdad: The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) announced the signing of documents for the handover of its Baghdad compound to the Iraqi government before the end of its mandate. In a statement, the Mission said it signed the documents for the handover of its main compound in Baghdad to the Iraqi government on December 14, 2025, prior to the mission’s mandate ending on January 31. Claudio Cordone, Deputy Special Representative for Iraq for Political Affairs and Electoral Assistance, signed on behalf of the mission, and Ambassador Mohammed Bahr Al-Uloom, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Relations, signed on behalf of the Iraqi government.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, this event culminates several months of close cooperation between the two sides and represents the transition from UNAMI to the United Nations Country Team, marking a new chapter in the partnership between the United Nations and Iraq.
