Paris: The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has officially approved an Iraqi proposal to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the publication of one of His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr’s works in the Memory of the World Register.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Xing Zhou, Assistant Director-General for the Memory of the World Register at UNESCO, informed Iraq’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Asaad Sawari, of the organization’s Executive Board’s approval. The proposal, supported by countries including Afghanistan, Algeria, and Azerbaijan among others, seeks to honor the 50th anniversary of the 1976 publication “The Logical Foundations of Induction” by Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr. This anniversary is set to be associated with UNESCO’s list for 2026-2027.
The list approved by the Executive Board, which includes Iraq’s proposal, will be submitted to the 43rd session of the General Conference. This conference will finalize the anniversaries that UNESCO will officially recognize in the coming years.
This achievement is a result of over a year and a half of dedicated work by the communications and information sector of the UNESCO Iraq Office. Their efforts were aimed at supporting the National Commission and the Iraqi Mission in Paris to secure this significant recognition.
