Baghdad: The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has officially launched online applications for the newly established Colleges of Excellence and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Baghdad for the 2026/2027 academic year.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry has detailed that applicants must be secondary school graduates from the 2025/2026 academic year with a minimum final grade of 85%. Additionally, potential students must pass an English language test and a personal interview to qualify for admission.

The Ministry specified that graduates from both the scientific and literary branches are eligible to apply to the College of Excellence. Scientific branch students may apply to all departments, while those from the literary branch can apply to Business Administration and E-Commerce, Accounting and Banking, and Philosophy and Sociology departments.

The Ministry further noted that for the College of Artificial Intelligence, only scientific branch graduates can apply to departments focused on Engineering Applications, Biomedical Applications, and Big Data.

First-round students have the opportunity to apply to both colleges initially. If the admission plan is not fulfilled, remaining seats will be available to graduates from both the first and second rounds, based on the minimum requirements for each department.

Regarding the application process, scientific branch graduates can select at least two departments for the College of Artificial Intelligence and at least three departments for the College of Excellence. They also have the option to rank their choices across both colleges. Literary branch graduates need to select at least two departments when applying to the College of Excellence.

The Ministry confirmed that the application process is conducted through the Qadam Platform and will remain open until Sunday, September 27, 2026.
