UNRWA Urges Israel to Lift Gaza Blockade Amid Humanitarian Crisis

Gaza: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has issued a call for Israeli authorities to lift the blockade on the Gaza Strip, highlighting that "despair has reached its peak" amid an intensifying humanitarian crisis.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, UNRWA issued a statement on the X platform, expressing grave concerns over the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip. The statement emphasized the urgent need for action, as the ongoing blockade, displacement orders, and intense bombardment exacerbate the crisis. The agency highlighted the severe food shortages and the plight of thousands of displaced families in search of basic necessities.

The statement further criticized the occupation's continued policy of systematic starvation affecting approximately 2.4 million citizens in Gaza. With aid supplies stranded at the border since March 2, the blockade has plunged the region into famine, resulting in significant loss of life.
