Baghdad: Next week, a US-British meeting will be held in London to discuss an international coalition to protect the Strait of Hormuz. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the United States and Britain plan to hold a high-level meeting aimed at forming an international coalition to ensure the safety of maritime navigation in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

The details of the meeting, including the final date and agenda, are still under discussion, but it is anticipated to involve defense ministers and senior military leaders from both Western and regional countries. US Secretary of Defense Pete Higseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Keane are likely to participate in the discussions. So far, there has been no official comment from either the White House or the US Department of Defense, and the British Embassy in Washington has also declined to comment on the meeting.

This initiative comes at a time when Washington views the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping as a critical component in strategies to resolve military tensions with Iran. Additionally, securing the strait plays a significant role in stabilizing global energy markets.
