US Central Command Reports Casualties in Iranian Attack on Jordan

Baghdad: The US Central Command announced on Saturday the deaths of two American soldiers while repelling Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks in Jordan the previous day.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a statement, the Command said, "On July 17, two US service members were killed in Jordan while US Central Command (CENTCOM) and partner forces were responding to Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks. One service member remains missing." The statement added, "Four US service members were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals and have since been discharged. Other personnel who received medical evaluations for minor injuries have returned to duty."

The Command noted, "Out of respect for the families, US Central Command will withhold additional information, including the identities of the fallen service members, until 24 hours after next of kin have been notified."
