US Embassy Renews Travel Restrictions for Personnel in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh:The US Embassy in Riyadh has renewed its security alert following reports of additional attacks targeting King Khalid Airport in Riyadh and King Fahd Airport in Dammam.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Embassy confirmed that US government personnel still require special authorization to use the airports in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, and emphasized the need for extreme caution at all major Saudi airports.

The Embassy advised US citizens to be prepared for potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions. It recommended verifying flight status with airlines and airports and suggested alternatives to air travel, such as private vehicles, Saudi Railways trains, and buses operated by SAT and SAPTCO.

Additional restrictions for US staff include a ban on travel within 20 miles of the Yemeni border and a requirement for special permits to visit Jizan, Asir, Najran, Qatif, Yanbu, and Taif. Despite these measures, the Embassy continues to provide routine and emergency consular services.
