US Extends Presence of Truman Aircraft Carrier in the Middle East Amid Rising Tensions

Baghdad: US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has decided to extend the presence of the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman in the Middle East. He also decided to send a second aircraft carrier to the region in the coming weeks. This decision follows recent developments involving the Ansar Allah group, which announced that it had targeted US warships accompanying the carrier with drones. Additionally, reports have emerged of violent explosions occurring south of Hodeidah, Yemen.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the United States launched airstrikes against Houthi targets last Saturday. These military actions aim to restore freedom of navigation in maritime lanes, marking the largest US military operation in the Middle East since President Trump assumed office. In response to the escalating situation, Trump issued a stern warning to "completely eliminate Ansar Allah," cautioning against further attacks and highlighting the potential for severe repercussions.
