Ramallah: The US State Department reported that an American citizen of Palestinian origin and a resident of the Ramallah area in the West Bank was killed in clashes with settlers.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the State Department confirmed the news that the Palestinian-American citizen was killed after being beaten during clashes with settlers near the town of Sinjil, north of Ramallah. A State Department spokesperson told Ynet that “ensuring the safety of American citizens abroad is a top priority, and the department is providing consular assistance to the victim’s family.” However, he declined to comment on the details of the incident.

The Arab 48 website reported that “settlers carried out an attack on the town of Sinjil, resulting in the death of two young men and the wounding of others, as their attacks continue throughout the occupied West Bank.” The website indicated that the two young men, Saif al-Din Kamil Musalat (23 years old, a Palestinian-American citizen), and Muhammad Rizq Shalabi (23 years old), were killed, and dozens were injured on Friday evening as a result of a settler attack on the town.
