Washington: US Treasury Secretary Scott Bisent has issued a warning to Iran, threatening to impose unprecedented economic isolation. This announcement comes as Washington is preparing to unveil new measures next week.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Bisent, in an interview with Newsmax, stated that the upcoming measures would combine an unprecedented level of economic isolation with the continuation of the existing embargo on Iran. This would prevent goods from entering or leaving Iranian ports. The Treasury Secretary indicated that these measures will include increased financial pressure and stricter restrictions on Iranian port activity.
The statements by Bisent coincide with the US administration’s affirmation of its ability to maintain a naval blockade on Iranian ports indefinitely. This is in light of stalled negotiations and ongoing tensions concerning navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
