Muscat: The White House announced Saturday evening that the talks between US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in the Sultanate of Oman were very positive and constructive.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the White House stated that the discussions were productive and that Envoy Witkoff assured Minister Araghchi of instructions from President Trump to resolve differences between the two countries. This development marks a significant diplomatic endeavor aimed at addressing ongoing tensions.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi departed from Muscat, Oman, on Saturday evening, heading back to Tehran after concluding the first round of direct talks with the US delegation. These discussions were conducted under the auspices of the Sultanate of Oman, highlighting the country’s role as a mediator in the nuclear dialogue.

Iranian media have confirmed that a second round of nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington is set to occur next Saturday. These talks are part of intensive efforts to make tangible progress before regional tensions escalate further.

Minister Araghchi described the talks as “constructive” and emphasized that both parties are not interested in open-ended negotiations. He stressed the importance of reaching understandings that guarantee the interests of both sides, especially given the tense climate in the region.
