Wimbledon: Novak Djokovic added another chapter to his illustrious Wimbledon career on Sunday, defeating Russian qualifier Roman Saviulin 7-6, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to secure his record-breaking 106th Wimbledon victory and reach the quarterfinals once again. Prior to this match, Djokovic was tied with Swiss legend Roger Federer, whose record stands at 105 wins.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the match was far from easy for Djokovic under the blazing heat of Centre Court. He lost his serve twice due to uncharacteristic errors before saving two set points at 2-5 down to clinch the first set in a hard-fought tiebreak.
Saviulin, ranked 132nd in the world, continued his bid for a major upset after months away from competition due to a thigh injury. He tested Djokovic's abilities, but his backhand hit the net, leaving him trailing 2-4 in the second set.
After winning the first set, Djokovic quickly doubled his lead thanks to his superb serve and powerful net shots. His frustration reached its peak when Saviulin broke his serve and clinched the third set, extending his run.
After a shaky start to the fourth set, Djokovic raised his game to secure the victory and book his place in the quarterfinals.
