Hadramawt: The Yemeni army revealed that 77 of its officers and soldiers were killed and wounded in an attack by forces of the Southern Transitional Council, which seeks the secession of southern Yemen, on an army unit in Hadramawt Governorate at the beginning of December. The attack ended with the Council's forces seizing control of the largest governorate in Yemen.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the General Staff of the Yemeni Army stated in a statement carried by the official Yemeni News Agency Saba: "This attack has no legal or legitimate justification and aims to destabilize security and peace in the safe and stable Hadramawt Governorate, threaten the stability of liberated areas, and impose a fait accompli that undermines the political process and disregards national frameworks."
The statement added: "These attacks resulted in 32 deaths and 45 injuries among officers and enlisted personnel in the region, and a number of officers and enlisted personnel remain missing."
