Abu dhabi: The Zayed National Museum has announced the opening of applications for its 2026 Research Fund, inviting researchers globally to apply for support for projects that contribute to preserving and enhancing knowledge of the UAE's heritage and culture, as well as research related to the history and cultures of the wider region. The fund, totaling AED 1 million, is in its fourth year and continues its mission to support studies that enrich understanding of the past and contribute to cultural heritage documentation for future generations.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Research Fund is inspired by the values of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE's founder, reflecting his commitment to supporting scientific research, encouraging innovation, and fostering resilience through a deeper understanding of the nation's cultural heritage. The fund offers grants to both experienced researchers and those early in their academic careers whose work contributes to expanding knowledge of the UAE and the broader region's history and culture.
Applications will be evaluated by a committee from the Zayed National Museum, the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, and independent experts. The criteria include research methodology, scientific expertise, expected outcomes, and alignment with the museum's mission. The Research Fund supports five main themes, including the life and achievements of Sheikh Zayed, the archaeology and history of the UAE, and the intangible cultural heritage of the UAE, among others.
Applications for the Zayed National Museum Research Fund grants are open until August 20th through the ZNM Research Fund Survey 2026 | QuestionPro Survey.
