Baghdad: The Kirkuk Directorate of Narcotics Affairs announced on Thursday the arrest of a drug dealer and the seizure of 3 kilograms of ‘magic mushrooms’ and marijuana in Sulaymaniyah. In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the Directorate said that ‘following intelligence efforts and a security operation conducted in coordination with the Sulaymaniyah Anti-Narcotics Directorate, personnel from the Kirkuk Directorate of Narcotics Affairs arrested a drug dealer and seized 1 kilogram of the narcotic substance known as ‘magic mushrooms,’ in addition to 2 kilograms of marijuana in Sulaymaniyah Governorate.’

According to Iraqi News Agency, the General Directorate affirmed, according to the statement, that ‘drug networks are now under control and will find no safe haven, no matter how hard they try to conceal themselves behind unfamiliar names or newly developed forms. Changing the names of drugs or devising new methods to promote them will not give drug dealers an opportunity to escape the grip of anti-narcotics personnel.’
