Sulaymaniyah: Civil defense teams in Sulaimaniyah Governorate, Kurdistan Region, extinguished a massive fire that broke out in a fuel depot in the Tanjero industrial area, resulting in injuries to approximately 30 people. Aram Ali, spokesperson for the Sulaimaniyah Civil Defense Directorate, stated that a large fire erupted in a petroleum derivatives complex in the Tanjero area of Sulaimaniyah Governorate.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, civil defense teams were dispatched to the scene to control and extinguish the blaze. Later, Sulaimaniyah Deputy Governor Shaho Osman announced that the fire was completely under control.
Brigadier General Ari Mohammed, Director of Civil Defense in Sulaimaniyah, stated in a press release that the firefighting operation took 4 hours and 20 minutes, with the participation of all civil defense teams and resources in Sulaimaniyah. He added that four firefighters sustained injuries and received treatment at the scene, and that most of the injured were workers and site personnel, including one Iranian worker employed at the site.
The fire broke out after midnight, accompanied by explosions in tanks containing highly flammable materials. Security forces cordoned off the area and diverted traffic away from the scene.
