Tunis:Iraq’s oil production reached a significant milestone in September, with output jumping to more than four million barrels per day. This marks the highest daily production rate since the beginning of the year, with September’s output recorded at 4.399 million barrels per day.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the “Eco Iraq” observatory reported that Iraq extracted approximately 834.7 million barrels of crude oil during the first nine months of 2026. The observatory highlighted that the production levels in January and February exceeded 4.1 million barrels per day, maintaining typical levels before a sharp decline in March.
The decline in production began in March, coinciding with regional conflicts, and continued through April and May, reaching a low of 1.406 million barrels per day. However, a gradual recovery started in the subsequent months, with production rising to 1.525 million barrels per day in June, 2.901 million barrels per day in July, and 3.746 million barrels per day in August.
The observatory based its figures on direct reporting data contained in the OPEC table, noting that September’s production marked the highest daily average recorded for the year before the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
