Arab League Accuses Israel of Exploiting Global Focus to Commit Crimes in Gaza

BAGHDAD: The Arab League has issued a strong condemnation against Israel for its military operations in the northern Gaza Strip and its actions concerning the UNRWA headquarters.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, criticized the Israeli forces for their recent activities in Gaza, which have resulted in numerous Palestinian casualties. The Secretary-General described these actions as part of Israel’s strategy to divert international attention from its operations in Lebanon.

According to the spokesperson for the Secretary-General, Jamal Rushdi, Israel aims to isolate northern Gaza from the rest of the region and forcibly remove its inhabitants as part of a broader displacement strategy. Rushdi emphasized that these actions are intended to further tarnish Israel’s international standing.

Further exacerbating tensions, the Arab League has denounced Israel’s confiscation of land that houses the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Ag
ency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Al-Quds. Aboul Gheit accused Israel of attempting to dismantle UNRWA, a key organization supporting Palestinian refugees. He highlighted the critical role of UNRWA in aiding the Palestinian people and called upon the global community to protect the agency against what he termed “one of the fiercest liquidation campaigns that a UN agency has ever faced.”

The Secretary-General’s statements reflect deep concerns about the potential implications of Israel’s actions on the stability and demographic integrity of the Gaza Strip, as well as on the broader peace process in the region.
