BAGHDAD: The Parliamentary Legal Committee of Iraq has announced an agreement among political blocs to pass four significant laws in a single legislative package. This move is set to take place in an upcoming session of the House of Representatives, either on Sunday or in subsequent meetings. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Vice Chairman of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Muhammad Anouz, stated that political consensus remains fundamental to the legislative process in the House of Representatives, a practice that has long been established and is expected to continue. The four laws to be passed encompass general amnesty, personal status, the annulment of a previous Revolutionary Command Council decision to confiscate lands in Kirkuk, and the retirement provisions for the Popular Mobilization Forces. Anouz emphasized that the delay in electing a new Speaker of the House of Representatives will not impede the approval of these laws. He further stated that the committee is focused on ensuring the le gislation is robust and will meet the needs of citizens, warning against enacting laws that are not implementable and could lead to future complications.
