Najaf: The Supreme Religious Authority, Sayyid Ali al-Sistani, received a delegation from the United Nations Mission in Iraq, headed by the Secretary-General’s Representative and Head of the UNAMI Mission, Mohammed al-Hassan. The meeting took place as part of ongoing discussions on key issues facing Iraq and the international community’s role in addressing them.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the delegation, led by Mohammed al-Hassan, brought numerous files and issues to discuss with Grand Ayatollah al-Sistani. The visit aimed to inform His Eminence of the critical issues on which the international mission is concentrating its efforts, reflecting the UN’s commitment to supporting Iraq in its various challenges.

Mohammed al-Hassan, who serves as the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, arrived in Najaf on Sunday evening. The discussions are expected to cover a range of topics pertinent to the UN’s mission in Iraq, emphasizing the importance of collaboratio
n between Iraqi religious authorities and international bodies.
