CAIRO: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani underscored the critical importance of maintaining the ceasefire in Lebanon and implementing United Nations Security Council Resolution No. 1701 during a recent phone conversation, according to the Egyptian Presidency. The leaders also highlighted the urgent need for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the official spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency emphasized that the call between the two leaders focused on regional conditions, including developments in Gaza and Lebanon. The leaders expressed concerns about the potential consequences of escalating conflicts on regional security and stability, as well as on the welfare of local populations. In addition to Lebanon and Gaza, the conversation also addressed the ongoing situation in Syria, with both leaders advocating for measures to restore security and stability while ensuring the
country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, noted that the leaders also discussed strengthening bilateral relations between Egypt and Iraq. They focused on enhancing collaboration in economic, trade, and investment sectors to support the developmental interests and aspirations for progress and prosperity of both nations. The conversation concluded with an agreement to maintain open communication lines to monitor and address issues of mutual concern.
