Gaza: The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate has reported the martyrdom of 10 Palestinian journalists during the past month of December.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Syndicate issued a statement highlighting the ongoing targeting of Palestinian journalists by the “Zionist entity,” describing these acts as massacres, particularly emphasizing the events of last December.
The statement detailed that the occupation army committed 84 violations, attacks, and crimes against Palestinian journalists within the month. Notably, in the Gaza Strip, 10 journalists were killed, including 5 who were in a live broadcast vehicle. Additionally, 8 family members of journalists were martyred, 3 homes were destroyed, and 5 journalists suffered injuries from missile shrapnel and bullets.
The Freedoms Committee within the Syndicate monitored several violations including the detention and prevention of about 20 journalists and crews from coverage. Moreover, 7 journalists were arrested, and there were 11 shooting incidents against journalists. Additionally, 10 journalists were severely beaten, and there were 3 cases of destroying and seizing work equipment in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
The statement further elaborated on the forms of attacks journalists faced, such as direct threats with weapons, suffocation with toxic tear gas, unfair trials, financial fines, travel bans, investigations, and attempted running over. The Syndicate emphasized its commitment to continue efforts to protect journalists and expose these crimes.
