Abu Dhabi: Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, announced that his country will increase energy supplies to Syria to contribute to establishing stability in it and the region in general. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Bayraktar made this announcement during a speech at the 15th session of the General Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), held in Abu Dhabi. He emphasized Turkey's intention to enhance its energy connections with neighboring markets, aiming to triple these connections as part of the country's energy policy goals. Bayraktar highlighted Turkey's ongoing energy supply to Iraq and expressed the country's plans to extend similar efforts to Syria, aiming to ensure regional stability. He underscored the importance of adopting precise global energy policies and the necessity for innovative solutions in business and financial models related to energy. Furthermore, Bayraktar shared Turkey's achievements in renewable energy, noting tha t the country has reached 32 gigawatts of renewable energy production, primarily from solar and wind sources. The minister outlined Turkey's ambitious plan to increase this capacity to 120 gigawatts by 2035, requiring a significant investment of around $80 billion. He also mentioned the need for a more resilient energy network, referred to as the "green network," which would necessitate an additional $28 billion investment over the coming decade. This network is crucial for supporting Turkey's expanded renewable energy capacity and ensuring sustainable energy distribution.
