Babylon: Security forces arrested an accused of antiquities trafficking in the Alexandria district of Babylon Governorate. Brigadier General Adel Al-Hussaini, Director of Media for Babylon Police, stated that the accused is from the southern governorates and was apprehended in a tight ambush, caught red-handed trading in antiquities based on accurate information.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, six antiquities were seized from the accused, which were found to have been obtained through illegal excavation operations. The authorities have taken the accused, along with the seized items, to the investigative authorities for legal proceedings. Meanwhile, the confiscated antiquities have been sent to the Antiquities Inspectorate to verify their authenticity and determine the historical period to which they belong.
