Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared a one-day national mourning today, Wednesday, in honor of the victims of the devastating fire at the tourist resort in Bolu province. The tragic incident resulted in the death of 76 people and left 51 others injured.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Erdogan announced the national mourning during a speech following a government meeting at the presidential complex in Ankara. He stated that flags would be flown at half-mast on all official buildings within Turkey and its foreign diplomatic missions. Erdogan emphasized the importance of holding accountable those responsible for the fire and revealed that an investigation team had been assigned to uncover the details surrounding the incident.

Earlier, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported that the fire broke out in a hotel at the Kartalkaya ski resort in Bolu. The minister confirmed that 76 individuals had lost their lives and 51 were injured. He also noted that nine individuals had been arrested in connection with the fire. Firefighting teams managed to control the blaze, but the extent of the damage and loss has left a significant impact on the nation.
