Baghdad: Minister of Migration and Displacement Evan Faeq Jabro confirmed that Iraqi society has successfully integrated ISIS families from Al-Hawl camp, and there have been no reports of destabilization or security threats. This announcement underscores Iraq’s long-standing experience in addressing the challenges posed by the reintegration of ISIS families.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Minister stated that since 2019, Iraq has been managing the reintegration of ISIS families, and there have been no recorded violations since their return. She highlighted the successful transformation of extremist ideologies among these families, with 11,000 individuals returned to Iraqi society through 19 trips. The Minister emphasized the critical need for continued international support, warning that the cessation of foreign aid could severely impact activities funded by the United Nations.

The Minister further elaborated on ongoing projects aimed at combating extremist ideas and expressed hope that international organizations would renew their support. She also detailed efforts in managing the Syrian Al-Hawl camp and the psychological rehabilitation center in Mosul as both a security and humanitarian issue. Nearly 9,000 people have been rehabilitated and reintegrated, while about 2,000 are currently undergoing psychological rehabilitation at Al-Amal Center. Presently, around 3,900 families, comprising 17,000 individuals, reside in Al-Hawl camp.
