Kuala Lumpur: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized that Israel is obligated to end its occupation of the Gaza Strip and compensate the Palestinians for the occupation and related actions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Erdogan accused Israel during a press conference held alongside Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Kuala Lumpur of not adhering to ceasefire agreements in the Palestinian Gaza Strip. He asserted that ‘Israel’s policy is based on massacres and occupation of lands.’

Erdogan stated: Israel must end its occupation of the Palestinian lands and compensate for the damage it has caused there. He highlighted the necessity of establishing an independent Palestinian state with sovereignty and geographic integration based on the 1967 borders, with East Quds as its capital.

Erdogan appealed to the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations “ASEAN” to collaborate in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza. He noted that Turkey has dispatched about 100 aid ships to Gaza and is planning to send more.

On the topic of Turkey-Malaysia relations, Erdogan mentioned that the two countries have agreed to raise their trade volume to $10 billion. He announced the formation of the Supreme Strategic Partnership Committee to bolster cooperation, emphasizing Turkey’s commitment to strengthening ties with Malaysia.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed Malaysia’s commitment to cooperating with Turkey across various sectors and affirmed that Malaysia will continue collaborating with Ankara, Doha, and Cairo to support Gaza.

President Erdogan arrived in Malaysia on Monday for an official visit, accompanied by several ministers, including those responsible for foreign affairs, energy, defense, industry, agriculture, and trade.
