Baghdad: The seventh round of political consultations between Iraq and Iran took place at the headquarters of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Baghdad, led by Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Bahr al-Ulum, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Relations on the Iraqi side, and Ambassador Dr. Majid Takht Ravanchi, Political Undersecretary of the Iranian Foreign Minister.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the two nations discussed boosting bilateral cooperation in fields such as economics, trade, and investment, as outlined in the agreements and memoranda of understanding previously signed. Both parties emphasized their dedication to advancing these partnerships to benefit the mutual interests of the Iraqi and Iranian populations.

In discussions regarding security and military matters, the representatives agreed to reinvigorate the work of joint committees and enhance bilateral cooperation. The goal is to reinforce stability and security within their nations and foster a more stable regional environment.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the importance of enhancing regional and international dialogue to bolster diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the ongoing crisis between Iran and the United States. He stressed that achieving peaceful resolutions would contribute to the security and stability of the entire region.

These consultations are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations, following recent high-level meetings, including visits by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and Speaker of Parliament Mahmoud al-Mashhadani to Iran.
