Istanbul: Istanbul International Airport has emerged as the leader among European airports in terms of daily flight numbers, recording an impressive 1,336 flights per day between February 3-9.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a report released by the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation, commonly known as Eurocontrol, highlighted that Istanbul Airport topped other European airports in terms of air traffic density for the mentioned period. Following Istanbul, Heathrow Airport in London secured the second spot with 1,276 daily flights, while Amsterdam’s Schiphol and Paris’s Charles de Gaulle recorded 1,234 and 1,143 daily flights, respectively.

Istanbul International Airport has consistently maintained its position at the peak of European air traffic, with last year’s average daily flights reaching 1,401. The airport’s first phase was inaugurated on October 29, 2018, covering an area of 76.5 million square meters. The subsequent phases are expected to be completed by 2025, expanding its capacity to accommodate 200 million passengers annually.
