Cairo: Speaker of the House of Representatives Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani and Speaker of the Federal National Council in the UAE Saqr Ghobash stressed the importance of parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ghobash met Al-Mashhadani on the sidelines of the Seventh Conference of the Arab Parliament and the Heads of Arab Councils and Parliaments at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ghobash highlighted the strength of the fraternal and historical Emirati-Iraqi relations, along with the UAE’s steadfast approach towards supporting stability in Iraq and fulfilling the aspirations of its people for development and prosperity. He emphasized that joint cooperation and coordination between the two sides serve the interests of both countries, as well as regional and international stability.
During the meeting, ways to enhance cooperation relations in various fields were discussed, with a focus on the importance of parliamentary cooperation between the two councils. The discussion included the exchange of visits and expertise, which would benefit both countries and their peoples.
Al-Mashhadani, for his part, expressed Iraq’s commitment to strengthening relations with the UAE across all fields. He praised the parliamentary relations between the two councils and the cooperation and mutual support observed in various regional and international parliamentary forums.
