Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared that liberal democracy is experiencing a significant crisis, emphasizing the urgent need to halt the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Erdogan conveyed these views during a speech following a government meeting in Ankara.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Erdogan pointed out that liberal democracy, once considered the most appealing ideology of the last century, is now facing a serious crisis. He highlighted that recent elections in Germany demonstrate how the void in European democracies is being occupied by far-right extremists.

Erdogan further expressed his desire to see the end of the Russia-Ukraine war, which has resulted in the loss of hundreds of thousands of lives and has imposed a heavy toll on both nations. He reiterated Turkey’s willingness to facilitate peace talks between the warring countries and to offer comprehensive support to establish a lasting peace.

Additionally, Erdogan criticized Western organizations and leaders for their inability to prevent the massacre of over 61,000 civilians, predominantly children and women, in Gaza. He asserted that Turkey, with its potential full membership, is uniquely positioned to rescue the European Union from its current challenges, addressing issues ranging from the economy and defense to politics and international standing.
