Basra: In a significant breakthrough, the Basra Anti-Crime Police have dismantled a notorious gang that had been targeting money changers in Basra and other governorates. The gang was known for employing advanced methods of movement and concealment using forged identities.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Basra Police Command released a statement detailing the operation. The crackdown was the result of extensive monitoring and investigation by the Basra Crime Control Department. Their intelligence efforts, under the direct supervision of Major General Latif Abdul Redha Al-Saad, led to the development of a comprehensive security plan to encircle and apprehend the gang.

During the operation, the gang attempted to flee by engaging in an armed confrontation with the police forces. However, the crime control teams and the SWAT Regiment, demonstrating high professionalism, were able to manage the situation effectively, leading to the arrest of the gang members without incurring any losses among the security personnel.

The statement also included remarks from Major General Al-Saad, who emphasized the Basra Police Command’s dedication to combating organized crime. He assured that the police command would continue its proactive measures to safeguard the security of citizens and deter any attempts to disrupt peace and stability in the province.
