Brussels: The European Union announced holding an extraordinary European summit on March 6 to support Ukraine and discuss the challenges facing European security. European Council President Antonio Costa stated that this summit is taking place at a critical time for both Ukraine and European security.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Costa mentioned in his post on the social networking site /X/ that during his consultations with European Union leaders, there was a shared commitment to address these challenges at the EU level. The focus will be on strengthening European defense and making a significant contribution to peace on the continent, along with ensuring long-term security for Ukraine.

Costa emphasized his intention to continue working closely with Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and all EU member states to prepare for the decisions to be made in March. The summit’s announcement comes amid growing concerns about the United States’ stance on the Russian-Ukrainian war
and its decision to initiate negotiations with Russia to end the conflict without involving the European party.
