Baghdad: The Secretary-General of the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq Movement, Sheikh Qais Khazali, firmly stated that there is no intention or plan to dissolve the Popular Mobilization Forces.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Sheikh Khazali made his remarks during a televised statement, where he emphasized that the weapons held by the factions have not been used in internal conflicts. He pointed out that these weapons are controlled and are intended for defending Iraq’s sovereignty and the protection of its lands.
Sheikh Khazali also highlighted that any calls to disarm the factions are perceived as attempts to deprive Iraq of its reserve weapons. He further noted ongoing Turkish violations of Iraqi sovereignty as a significant concern.
Additionally, Sheikh Khazali mentioned that the Coordination Framework, a political alliance, plans to participate in the upcoming elections with multiple lists, indicating a strategic approach in their electoral participation.
