Kursk: The Russian authorities have confirmed that they have achieved new field gains in the Kursk region, leading to a gradual withdrawal of the Ukrainian army from multiple strongholds.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ukrainian reports have indicated that Russia has recently diminished Kyiv’s control over Kursk, regaining areas seized by Ukraine since a sudden incursion last August. Russian forces reportedly breached Ukrainian defenses on March 6, south of the city of Sudzha.

It has been stated that Ukraine has lost at least partial control over a crucial road leading to Sudzha. Ukrainian forces have withdrawn in recent days from the territory west of the village of Sverdlykovo. This has occurred amid increasing pressure from the Russian army, which has been advancing from both the west and the east. Consequently, only a narrow corridor, ranging between 12 and 13 kilometers (seven to eight miles), remains for Kyiv’s forces to retreat if necessary.

In a related development, Ukrainian media have reported a rapidly deteriorating logistical situation in Kursk, describing it as critical. The Ukrainian leadership is faced with the decision of whether to withdraw from the area or to hold their ground at the risk of losing everything.

Russia has confirmed its recent advancements on several combat fronts in Kursk, emphasizing that the situation for Ukrainian forces in the region they occupied last August has become “critical.”
