Moscow: Russian Presidential Aide, Yuri Ushakov, confirmed on Thursday that the proposal for a temporary ceasefire with Ukraine will ease the pressure on Ukrainian forces, noting his country’s pursuit of a long-term peace settlement that takes into account Moscow’s interests and concerns.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ushakov commented on the US proposal for a temporary ceasefire with Ukraine, stating, “Our ultimate goal is a long-term peace settlement, and we are striving to achieve a peaceful settlement that takes into account our country’s legitimate interests and our well-known concerns.” The Russian presidential aide clarified that the ceasefire proposal is viewed as merely a temporary truce for the Ukrainian army, while not ruling out the possibility of President Vladimir Putin announcing more specific and meaningful terms for the proposal.

Ushakov further emphasized that the United States is aware that Ukraine’s NATO membership cannot be discussed within the context of a peaceful settlement and Ukraine’s future. This situation underscores the complexity of negotiations amid ongoing tensions.

Earlier on Thursday, the Kremlin announced that American negotiators are en route to Russia, with Washington set to present its plan for a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine. This development highlights the active involvement of international stakeholders in addressing the ongoing conflict.

Two days prior, Saudi Arabia hosted talks between Washington and Kyiv in Jeddah, reflecting its role in efforts to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian crisis. The discussions in Saudi Arabia mark a significant diplomatic engagement aimed at finding a resolution to the conflict.
