Beirut: The Lebanese Army announced that it has conducted intensive contacts with the Syrian authorities to maintain security and stability in the border area. A statement from the Lebanese Army read: “On March 16, two Syrians were killed and another was injured on the Lebanese-Syrian border in the vicinity of the Qasr-Hermel area. A wounded person was transferred to a hospital for treatment and later died.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Army implemented exceptional security measures and conducted intensive contacts from last night until the early hours of the morning, resulting in the delivery of the three bodies to the Syrian side. In parallel, Lebanese villages and towns in the area were subjected to shelling from Syrian territory. Military units responded to the sources of fire with appropriate weapons, reinforced their deployment, and controlled the security situation.

Contacts continue between the Army Command and the Syrian authorities to maintain security and stability in the border area. Earlier on Monday, the Lebanese Al-Jadeed TV reported renewed clashes this morning at a light intensity, with clans targeting a Syrian General Security vehicle in Matraba area on the Syrian side of the border.
