Brussels: The European Union called on the United States to reach a fair trade agreement based on respect, not threats. European Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic emphasized this stance following discussions with US Trade Representative Jamison Greer and US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Sefcovic expressed the EU's willingness to engage in good faith negotiations to achieve a balanced agreement with the United States, highlighting the importance of mutual respect. He stated, "The bloc is ready to work in good faith to reach an agreement with the United States based on respect, not threats," and reiterated the EU's full commitment to achieving a mutually beneficial outcome.

Sefcovic further emphasized the unparalleled nature of trade between the European Union and the United States, insisting that respect, rather than threats, should guide their interactions. While underscoring the EU's readiness to defend its interests, he affirmed the European Commission's commitment to working in good faith towards an agreement with Washington, yet firmly rejected any form of intimidation.
