Washington: Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani held a meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington. The regional government stated in a statement: "The Prime Minister expressed his thanks and appreciation to the United States for its continued support for the Kurdistan Region."

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Secretary Rubio affirmed the United States' commitment to supporting a strong and stable Kurdistan Region within federal Iraq. He noted that this is an essential part of the US strategy in the region under the administration of President Donald Trump. Rubio also reiterated the United States' readiness to support the Kurdistan Regional Government in various fields.

The Minister praised the humanitarian role played by the Kurdistan Region in hosting refugees and displaced persons and its efforts to protect the rights of various religious and ethnic groups. The two sides also discussed the importance of resuming the export of Kurdistan Region oil through the Iraqi-Turkish pipeline.
