Ankara: Ankara has affirmed its stance against the imposition of decentralized or separatist agendas in Syria, in collaboration with Damascus. An official source within the Turkish Ministry of Defense emphasized that Turkey, working alongside the Syrian government, will not permit any such agendas to take root in the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the official highlighted Turkey’s support for any constructive steps towards achieving peace and stability in Syria. However, this support is contingent upon the process being transparent, inclusive, and mindful of the legitimate security concerns of all parties involved.

The source reiterated Turkey’s unchanged position on the necessity of the Syrian army being the sole military entity in the country and the integration of the terrorist organization “SDF” into this army. He further stated, “In cooperation with the Syrian government, no decentralized or separatist agendas will be allowed to be imposed in Syria.”

The official also mentioned the establishment of a joint operations center by five countries aimed at combating ISIS in Syria. This decision was made during a meeting on March 9th in Jordan, attended by the foreign ministers of Turkey, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and the host country.

Furthermore, the source noted that the Syrian side has invited the coordination unit, comprising Turkey, Syria, and Jordan, to commence its work in Damascus, which began on the 19th of this month. He added, “We have appointed staff for the coordination unit and are closely monitoring the agreement reached last March between the new Syrian government and the SDF to ensure regional stability and security.”
