Paris: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to significantly increasing its crude oil production capacity from the current 4.8 million barrels per day to 10 million barrels per day. This announcement was made during a meeting with the heads and representatives of major French companies at his residence in Paris, where he discussed potential avenues for their participation and increased presence in Iraq.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Zaidi emphasized the historical relations between Iraq and France, describing France as a reliable partner in Iraq’s strategic framework. He underscored Iraq’s need for strategic partners and presented a comprehensive investment map spanning various sectors, including economy, energy, industry, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, and railways. The Iraqi government is prepared to offer necessary support and a conducive investment environment to French companies interested in investing in Iraq.

Al-Zaidi highlighted the Strategic Development Road project, which has global significance as a key pathway for economic integration and smooth supply chains. Additionally, he announced an agreement reached with French President Emmanuel Macron to prepare for the upcoming Baghdad-Paris Conference in Baghdad.

During the meeting, al-Zaidi reiterated Iraq’s dedication to increasing its crude oil production capacity and detailed accompanying projects related to the production, extraction, and investment of associated gas. He also pointed out other mineral resources available for investment and expanded extraction, such as sulfur, phosphates, silica, and petrochemicals, alongside infrastructure projects.
