Baghdad: Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani stressed the importance of deepening relations with the United States in various fields.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from his media office detailed that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani received Senator Jacky Rosen, a member of the Armed Services Committee and the Foreign Relations Committee in the US Congress, along with her accompanying delegation. The meeting was also attended by the Charg© d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Iraq.
Discussions during the meeting focused on the overall Iraqi-American relations and explored ways to enhance these ties to serve mutual interests, boost Iraq's economic recovery, and ensure regional stability.
The statement highlighted al-Sudani's emphasis on the need to deepen relations with the United States in various fields while continuing bilateral dialogue based on mutual respect. He reiterated the importance of affirming Iraq's sovereignty and shared values within the framework of existing agreements and the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Al-Sudani also underscored the necessity of developing a comprehensive vision for Iraq in light of the ongoing economic and development transformation in the country.
Senator Rosen, on her part, expressed her country's commitment to building sustainable relations with Iraq. She commended the progress seen in Baghdad and other Iraqi cities and acknowledged the Iraqi government's capability to steer clear of regional conflicts, highlighting Iraq's pivotal role and its growing significance in the region.
