Baghdad: Independent Kurdish politician Mahmoud Othman revealed that a high-level delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government will soon travel to Baghdad this week to resolve the recent dispute over the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees. Othman emphasized the importance of dialogue to address this financial conflict.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Othman stated that it is unlikely for the Kurdistan Region to take drastic measures such as withdrawing ministers, government officials, and members of parliament from the Kurdish component in Baghdad. This follows the federal Ministry of Finance's decision to halt funding for the region's employees' salaries. He stressed that discussions between the financial and oil stakeholders in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region are crucial for finding a resolution.

Othman urged that the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees should be kept out of political disputes, asserting that they are a legitimate right and that employees should not suffer due to governmental and political issues. He further underlined the need for transparency, advocating for the agreement between Baghdad and Erbil on salaries and oil to be shared publicly. This would help stop the ongoing mutual accusations between the federal government's Ministry of Finance and the regional government.
