Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made changes to the top military leadership on Tuesday. In a message on Tuesday evening, Zelenskyy announced that the former commander of the army, Mykhailo Drabatyi, had been dismissed of organizational duties such as mobilization, training, and equipping recruits.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Drabatyi’s reduced responsibilities came after a deadly Russian missile attack targeting a military training ground in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Drabatyi himself had offered his resignation two days earlier via Telegram, following what he described as a “scandal” in which 12 soldiers were killed and dozens wounded.

Zelenskyy also appointed Oleh Apostol as commander of the paratrooper forces and Robert Provdy as commander of the drone units. He also announced that Vadim Sukharevsky will be tasked with completely revamping the command structure as the new deputy commander of Army Group East.

Ukraine is facing intense pressure on the front lines as the Russian military operation continues, now in its fourth year.
