Berlin: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi confirmed the availability of significant opportunities to expand cooperation with the German company Siemens to address the electricity situation in Iraq. The announcement came during a meeting in Berlin with Siemens CEO Christian Bruch and his delegation.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussions between the Prime Minister and Siemens focused on enhancing the partnership in the energy sector. They explored mechanisms for cooperation that would not only strengthen ties between Iraq and Siemens, but also contribute to the implementation of development plans in the country. The focus is on rehabilitating and developing Iraq’s electricity distribution and transmission networks, while also diversifying the sources of electricity generation. This includes the establishment of power plants that utilize a variety of fuel sources, moving beyond a reliance solely on gas.

The Prime Minister expressed optimism about the potential for expanded cooperation, which is vital for supporting the government’s initiatives to improve the electricity infrastructure in Iraq. By working closely with Siemens, Iraq aims to address ongoing challenges in the electricity sector and ensure a more stable and efficient energy supply for its citizens.
