Baghdad: Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, visited the Joint Operations Command headquarters on Thursday, where he reviewed the organization and coordination plan for Eid al-Adha.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani chaired a meeting with security and military leaders, which was also attended by the Mayor of Baghdad. During the meeting, Al-Sudani congratulated the various security services and formations on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, acknowledging their efforts in maintaining security and stability across the country. He emphasized the importance of ensuring a secure environment for Eid al-Adha and facilitating the movement of citizens by maintaining a smooth flow of traffic.

Al-Sudani received a briefing on the coordination plan’s implementation, focusing on securing places of worship, public venues, and entertainment areas. This involves cooperation with the Baghdad Municipality and relevant authorities, aiming to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow and prevent road closures throughout the region. The Mayor of Baghdad outlined the service plan for Eid, detailing the municipality’s efforts in preparing public and recreational spaces for citizens and coordinating with relevant authorities.

The Deputy Commander of Joint Operations provided insights into the security services’ preparations for Eid, including securing the land Hajj route and organizing the return of pilgrims. Additionally, he discussed the security forces’ strategies regarding the development road project, election security, and ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking.

The meeting also featured a phone call with the Commander of Basra Operations to monitor security during the national team’s match against South Korea, part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
