Tehran: Iran is reportedly gearing up to target United States military bases in the region as tensions with Israel escalate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, an informed source, citing senior military commanders, confirmed that “military confrontations with Israel will expand in the coming days.” The source noted that Iranian strikes will not only target occupied territories claimed by Israel but will also extend to US bases in the region, with a promise of a decisive and comprehensive response.

The source elaborated that military leaders emphasized that the confrontations will not be confined to recent limited operations. Instead, Iran plans ongoing strikes that will be “extremely painful,” aiming to make the aggressors regret their actions.

In a related development, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz reiterated that Iran would face severe repercussions, condemning the Iranian regime for crossing red lines by targeting the Israeli home front. Katz asserted that Israeli forces continue to strike Iran, targeting strategic sites and causing significant damage to its military capabilities.

Earlier today, the Israeli Air Force announced a series of raids on Tehran, marking the first instance of such operations since the conflict began. The raids targeted dozens of sites, as Israeli fighter jets flew over Tehran last night.

Last Friday, Israel launched surprise airstrikes against Iran under the operation codenamed “Lion,” focusing on military and nuclear sites, including the Natanz uranium enrichment facility. The strikes resulted in the deaths of several nuclear scientists, military commanders, and Iranian officials, including Revolutionary Guard Commander Hossein Salami, Army Chief of Staff Mohammad Bagheri, and IRGC Aerospace Force Commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh.

In response to these Israeli airstrikes, Iran announced the initiation of Operation True Promise 3, which involved launching hundreds of missiles at Tel Aviv.
